TRB 92nd Annual Meeting - Washington, DC, USA - January 13-17, 2013

In the frame of the ECTRI-TRB MoU, ECTRI actively contributed by organizing a number of sessions, giving a European flavour to the 92nd TRB Annual meeting.

The ECTRI/TRB Action plan, which implements the ECTRI/TRB MoU was reviewed on January 15 at the occasion of session presided by ECTRI President, G. Giannopoulos, HIT. The meeting concentrated on the EUTRAIN project progress report, the ECTRI Scanning Tour 2013 in the US and the Young Researchers Seminar 2013.

The EUTRAIN project was an important element of the ECTRI activity at TRB. On January 13, C. Alméras presented the project results to the International Activities Committee. On January 14, G. Giannopoulos gave the presentation 'Themes and priorities for international transport research cooperative work: results of the global EUTRAIN project workshops' at the occasion of the International Research Collaboration and Coordination session.

On January 12, A. Dupont-Kieffer, Ifsttar, presided the Scientific and Planning Committee meeting for the 5th International Conference on Women's Issues in Transporation (WIIt) to take place on April 14-16, 2013 in Paris. The WIIT Conference is supported by ECTRI and Prof. Neil Paulley, ECTRI Vice-President, is member of the Scientific Committee as ECTRI representative. On January 13, A. Aparicio, UPM presided the Workshop 'Future of Low-Cost Interregional Passenger Mobility In North America and Europe.

   
 

EUTRAIN Workshop "International transport research cooperation in the Latin America countries" - Sao Paulo, Brazil - March 7-8, 2013

In the frame of the EUTRAIN project, the fourth regional workshop, organized by EUTRAIN partner ERTICO. The emphasis was on the:

- Themes of interest for international transport research cooperative work,

- Conditions and prospects for facilitating such research cooperation, and

- Ways forward in the future for all the countries

Young Researchers Seminar 2013 - Lyon, France - June 5-7, 2013

logoYRS The Young Researchers Seminar 2013 took place in Lyon, France June 5-7, 2013. This event is organised by ECTRI and FERSI. ECTRI Member LET hosted the event.

The 3 winners of the Seminar are:

- Best Paper and presentation: Markus Schumacher, BASt (Germany) with a paper entitled: ‘Assessing fitness to drive under long-term treatment with opioid analgesics’,
- Second best paper and presentation: Steve Hankey, TRB – University of Minnesota (USA) with a paper entitled ‘Measuring air pollution using a mobile, bicycle-based platform: Implications for cyclists’ and pedestrians’ exposure to particulate urban air pollution’
- Third best paper and presentation: Kira Hyldekær Janstrup, DTU (Denmark) with a paper entitled ‘Estimating road accidents in Denmark: An application of the capture-recapture method’.

EUTRAIN Final Conference - Brussels, Belgium - October 9-10, 2013

The EUTRAIN final conference 'International Cooperation in Transport Research: the way forward" took place on October 9 and 10, 2013 in Brussels, Belgium.

EUTRAIN is a project coordinated by ECTRI, started in October 2011 until November 2013. More information is available on the project website.
